Erawan Waterfalls Kanchanaburi, Thailand. – ” This experience was truely amazing! I’ve never seen more clear blue waterfalls than The Erawan Waterfalls. It’s hot and misty. The water is nice and warm and because there are so many little waterfalls in between each level, it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in the water and listen to the falls and the sounds of the jungle. The views are absolutely breathtaking. There are 7 levels to climb. Along the way there are a couple of stops where you can look out over the jungle. When you reach level 7 you’re rewarded with an amazing view of the top of the waterfall. I took lots of pictures and I hope you enjoy them. Whenever you’re in Thailand, please make sure you see this. I’m forever grateful to have visited this magical place.” – Rosita Furtado

Where To Book: On Khao San Road and the streets around Khao San Road you can find multiple stands where they sell daytrips to the Erawan Waterfalls. What I did was I went to a couple of stands to get informed about all of the different daytrips and prices and then I compared them and picked a reasonably affordable one. Basically they all sell the same trips so it really doesn’t matter which one you pick. There’s also the posibility to combine your visit to the falls with a short stop on the River Quay Bridge, or exploring Death Railway. I chose to make a stop at the River Quay Bridge. The stands where you can book this daytrip are very easy to spot because they have pictures hanging of the Erawan Waterfalls. The people are incredibly kind and will show you all the posibile daytrip combinations. So just sit down and negotiate a little. Or get informed here and there like me, so you can compare the daytrips and prices.
Whats Included: I was 30 minutes late (because I went out the night before) and a very kind busdriver was patiently waiting for me at my hotel lobby. (Try that over here in Holland and your driver is gone lol!) The bus was parked right in front of the hotel and we picked up seven other people along the way before we drove from Bangkok to Erawan National Park. On our way we made a short stop and we were all asked to pick between 4 different lunches. They do this in advance, so they can have your lunch ready, waiting for you when you arrive at the National Park. You don’t have to pay entrance, because this is also included. After lunch you can buy snacks and stuff in case you forgot to bring something. Then you are free to start your climb. The Erawan Waterfalls has 7 levels. You have around 2,5 hours to spend so you can choose. You can climb a couple of levels and then dip in the blue water for a bit. If you’re not a climber, the second level is already breathtaking . You don’t have to climb very long before you reach a beautiful waterfall where you can swim with the fishes. There are lots of Garra Rufa fishes, also known as: The Doctor Fish. These are the fishes that are used in spa’s to suck on your feet. They swim almost everywhere but they aren’t dangerous. If you’re really scared: there are also pools without fish that you can dip into, don’t worry. You are allowed to climb the falls. When you do I recommend you to be super cautious. I came across a guy with a big hole in his head being carried down so please watch out. I walked all the way up to level 7 and at some levels I stopped to climb a waterfall, or swim. When we got back we all went back into the car and drove to the River Quay bridge. Here you could walk around, take some pictures and buy some food. After that we were each driven back to our hotels. (There will be a separate blogpost all about: River Quay).
Whats a Reasonable Price: 1200 – 1500 baht per person (Now remember this is for people that want to book a daytrip from Bangkok to National Park. This includes: ride to the park and back, entrance to the park, quick stop at River Quay or Death Railway, and lunch.)
What To Pack: Swimwear, Towel, Camera, Underwater Camera, Deet Spray 40%, Sunglasses, Hiking Shoes (that can get wet), Little Snacks, Waterbottle, Sunscreen, and optionally 1 set of Clean Clothes.
